Dear Michael,

Growing up in a home where learning wasn’t valued was hard for Victoria. Not understanding how to manage her type 1 diabetes nearly took her life.

Poor health and little education were a vicious cycle, and by age 16, Victoria dropped out of school after becoming pregnant. But as Victoria watched her son, Everett, grow into a toddler, it became clear that education and literacy were the key to providing a better quality of life for her family.

For nearly 30 years, generous friends like you have helped families like Victoria’s break the generational cycle of low literacy. Please donate during this season of giving to help more parents and children secure better lives through literacy.

Because of supporters like you, Victoria enrolled in a family literacy program. Today, Victoria is a Certified Nursing Assistant, giving back by helping others who are facing health challenges. She loves reading books to Everett. Together, they have a hope-filled future!

People like Victoria and Everett are the reason why Barbara Bush made it her life’s work to help families improve their literacy skills.

During this special season of giving, please help more parents and children experience the hope found through reading and writing.

It’s a gift that will make the holidays bright for families like Victoria’s. It’s a gift that will make our communities, our nation, and our future even brighter.

With gratitude,
